I'm No Artist ...

During the midterm I experienced much the same frustrations as Erika and the other students have expressed. I was constantly looking for terms in the right hand column that were not present and disappointed that I couldn’t use other terms from the left column to define those already present. Altogether the initial part proved challenging but required far less of my time than I imagined.

The second part, in my opinion, proved to be the most challenging of the midterm. I found it terribly difficult not to repeat much of the initial idea that I’d presented in the previous part here. It was difficult to try and tackle each of these from this different perspective and determine their relevance to our line of thought as well as that of society.

Finally the essay seemed, in my opinion, to be the most natural part of the midterm. I found that I could more easily construct my thoughts given more space to work. I revised my connections of my term with the ideas of metaphor a few times until I found one that I felt confident would work with all the required data.

In the end I found that there was a heavy focus in my writing, in all three sections, concerning the role of the artist in new media. This comes as little shock to me. As much as I refuse to call myself an artist my inspirations and my future profession stem directly from this source. It will be interesting to see what other people found to be the most relevant connection in the midterm to themselves and their lives.
