I thoroughly enjoyed reading Scott McCloud’s explanation on how time and motion is represented and interpreted in comic strips. I grew up loving comic strips. I had endless stacks of books that included Garfield, The Far Side, and my all time favorite Calvin and Hobbes. I never looked too closely at the different techniques that the artists used to convey time and action. At the time I just seemed to “get it” without giving it much thought. I guess having the readers just understand how time passes is exactly what these artists are going for.

I also enjoyed the discussion in class on Tuesday about time. I tend to agree with the members of the class who felt that time is relative and is defined by its context. Time can be measured mathematically and is in that form always constant, but an individual can feel time differently from what they are doing than another individual may. There were enough examples given in class about this. Boredom, excitement, stress, ect.
