I still find it strange to think of people with prostatic limbs and artificial body parts as cyborgs as stated in “The Seduction of Cyberspace”. The mental image I get when I hear that word is a full scale robot. The main point in N. Katherine Hayles essay is that slowly we are moving toward the time when the body is not entirely necessary. Here is a link to a website that sells prosthetic hands, arms, legs, finger, and other limbs. http://www.alatheia.com/. I find the slogan that they use on the main webpage, “where function meets art” interesting. It seems like the function of these artificial limbs is perfected enough to the point where the realness is the most important part of the deal.
GO GO ROCKIES!
