3 Metaphors

1. Modernity is networking - To be so-called "modern" in today's world, you need to be connected. There is no way you can be a part of the modern world without having knowledge. Knowledge of current events, the most recent technology, and the upcoming technology. It is not acceptable to be involved in a select few activities today. If you have a job and a family that you take care of, that is not enough, it is not acceptable. You must have a job, take care of your family, keep up with current events, travel, work when you are not at work...the things expected of people today are numerous. If you aren't up on the newest technologies, you appear to be disconnected from the world. Computers are turning into people's best friends. Constantly searching for new information and connecting with people around the world, computers are what make us able to network.

2. High tech. is evolution - Technology is ever changing and improving by the second. If you buy the newest ipod that just came out yesterday, you may feel that you are at the edge of technology. That is until the next week when there is hype over a totally NEWER ipod with a lot more options and functions than your rapidly outdated ipod. You can never be at the forefront of technology because it is constantly updating and improving at every moment. We have so much to consume and take in each day yet we are expected to know these things instantly. Technology will never stop, never take a break. Technology is evolving.

3. Technology is magic – Technology creates things from midair. They seem to just appear. If you can imagine it, technology can create it. Sometimes things even appear that you didn’t imagine. Like magic, it is often hard for people to grasp how such a thing could happen. Often there is a detailed explanation of how the action happened but it is not something that you would initially think of. Technology, computers as an example, have a very specific way of functioning that is strategic and logical but when an action takes place, it often seems like it appeared out of nowhere.
